September Newsletter

Throughout the summer we have enjoyed regular art sessions for those participants who have previously completed the initial 6 weekly sessions. As part of that journey they have made new friends and acquired new skills that bring such welcome respite from the demands of daily life. It is important that this precious time together continues throughout the year, so we made sure that fortnightly sessions were made available to everyone during the summer months. This was popular with many members of the group….despite the high summer temperatures!

In these troubled times, it is ever more important to find sanctuary and escape from the anxious, angry conflict that seems to occupy our world at the moment. Spending a couple of hours immersed in colour, painting, drawing or even just chatting with group friends can be therapeutic and restful. The summer follow on group has produced some beautiful work, and are already beginning to create designs for our exclusive Christmas cards. We only have a few of our summer cards left, and you can see a short video of them on our website. We are planning to introduce online payments so that you will be able to purchase your cards directly from us.

Here are some examples of our Christmas cards

PATV is delighted that the Mayor of Romsey has invited us to submit a design for her Christmas card. We are also looking forward to being at the “Romsey Town Hall Christmas Brocante and Gift Market” on the 8th December where we will have a stall to showcase more of our wonderful artists work. More details to come in the next newsletter.

As the summer draws to a close PATV has already started the new Autumn group who are beginning to relax and enjoy the creative sanctuary that we provide. Referrals numbers are increasing, and the winter months can be difficult for many, so we are planning an additional new group for November/December 2019, and for Jan/Feb 2020. We are delighted to welcome two new volunteers; Sue Veck and Ann Bailey. Both will be a great asset to PATV, and both have undertaken the 6 week course. As the need for new, and follow group sessions, grows so we will need more art facilitators and volunteers. We have a great team of volunteers and please do contact us if you feel you might like to be part of the team. PATV would be really pleased to hear from you.

This newsletter is dedicated to the wonderful Rosalind Woodward, “Lyn”, who passed away in July. Lyn was a much loved member of the follow on group. Lyn had been a GP, anaesthetist and was also a talented textile artist. Lyn created beautiful art work, and we shall miss her so much. Her family said that the art group gave her a reason to go out, to make new friends and to feel confident and proud again. Instead of funeral flowers they have kindly donated to PATV as it meant so much to their Mum.

This great photo tells it all……..
